• How should I prepare my music?

For the best results try to make sure everything peaks between -12 and -3db on your master channel. It's fine if it peaks at any point below 0db but to create the best sounding master we ask that you turn off all limiters and compressors on your master output. See the next question regarding file formats.

  • What type of file should I send?

Upload a high quality WAV file. You should send us the same bit depth and sample rate that was used during recording. If you recorded at 16 bit send us that, its best not to up-convert. So for example if you recorded at 44.1 kHz sample rate and 24bit send us that.

We prefer to not receive an MP3 or any other compressed format and it isn't recommended because the sound quality will be the worst in this format, obviously. An MP3 file can also create noticeable artifacts during the dithering process to 16 bit.

  • What if I am not satisfied with the sound of my Master?

At Digital Song Mastering we strive to produce the best sounding Master. We use a highly treated room with a very powerful pair of studio monitors. Sometimes what sounds good in our mastering studio doesn’t always sound good in your own system.

If you are not happy with the sound of your master we can refund your purchase before any revisions are done.

If you would like some revisions made to your master please let us know what type of system you’re using, what problems you hear and what you would like it to sound like. Your first and second revisions are free.

  • I think my track might need mastering but I’m not sure, can you help?

Upload your track and send it to us and we will give it a look and let you know what it needs (or if it doesn’t need any work at all!)

  • How long can my album be?

Usually around 80 minutes. Contact us if you have a longer album.

  • How long will it take after payment to receive my master?

We generally get single songs mastered within 1 or 2 business days. Albums are normally completed in 2 or 3 business days.

  • Why should I use Digital Song Mastering?

We have a strong passion for high quality audio and want to share our attention to detail with you. Our priority is making our clients happy through fast, high quality service that you can depend on again and again.

  • I have Dropbox installed but how do I share my music with you?
